Carter Nice – Music Director and Conductor

Carter Nice, returns for his 21st season with the Bear Valley Music Festival. Maestro Nice began his professional career at age 12 as a violinist with the Jacksonville Symphony. He holds music degrees from both the Manhattan and the Eastman Schools of Music. Mr. Nice served as the concertmaster for the Florida Symphony Orchestra, the New Orleans Philharmonic, and from 1979 to 1992, the Music Director for the Sacramento Symphony. Carter is currently the Music Director for the Sacramento Metropolitan Orchestra.

The Bear Valley Music Festival mission statement best defines the goals of the organization. “The Bear Valley Music Festival is committed to producing an annual summer program of classical, opera, and popular music, bringing together musicians and audiences in the natural beauty of the high Sierra, providing opportunities for personal interaction between audiences and professional and student musicians.”
