Event Planner / Marketing Assistant (2 positions)
Candidates should have basic administration skills (Microsoft Office), excellent communication and organizational skills, and a desire to nurture customers and volunteers within an arts environment. Compensation: Housing and a concert pass for the 2009 Bear Valley Music Festival summer season. Interns may accept other employment with prior permission from the Executive Director, so long as it doesn't compete with assigned hours with the Bear Valley Music Festival. We can offer some assistance with finding a part-time job.
The Bear Valley Music Festival Office, located in the lodge facility, is the primary information hub of the Bear Valley Music Festival. All interns share responsibility for organizing and staffing the office, gathering and sorting mail, keeping information (e.g., emergency information, orchestra/performers assignments, festival information, marketing material, and general admin.) accurate, timely and readily available. The Marketing Assistant will be expected to work 20 hours of shifts in the office, be on call two days per week, and will have two days off per week (all subject to change at the discretion of the Executive Director). During the festival, July 25 to August 9, the Marketing Assistant will need to be available 40 hours a week. The BVMF Office hours are Monday - Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Times subject to change.)
The Marketing Assistant is expected to arrive in Bear Valley by 12:00 pm on Wednesday, May 27 (or a date that is agreed upon), to assist in festival preparation, be involved and assist with coordinating the performers, staff, and volunteer groups, help the Office Manager with execution of the marketing plan, ticket sales, organize group sales and various projects assigned by the Office Manager/Executive Director. The Marketing Assistant then remains in Bear Valley to wrap up the festival until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15.

Music Camp Counselor (6 positions: 3 men, 3 women)
The counseling staff is comprised of dedicated men and women, many of whom are active students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and counseling skills. Counselors are responsible for the supervision of all student activities inside the class day and are on 24-hour call throughout the duration of the camp. Candidates should be music majors, and at least in their second year of college. Our counselors in previous years were piano performance, composition, and music education majors. In 2009 we're looking to strengthen the string element of our program while keeping a good balance of brass and woodwind players on staff. If you are interested and feel you could make a meaningful contribution to our program please have them get in touch with me or Leonora Holmes at their earliest convenience. There are currently six counselor positions available, three men, three women.
These positions would report to the Camps Director and Music Director. Counselors should arrive by July 26 for camp set up and orientation, and stay until August 9 for check out. Dates may vary.
Production Interns (5 positions available)
(Provide housing the night of the 19th) July 20st 8 am. (Start time) through Aug. 12th, 2009
Times: Approximately 40 a week as needed
Duties: Come join our team of hard working entertainment professionals. You as an intern will have the opportunity to build a concert facility from the ground up and make sure the shows go off without a hitch. You will also learn the key positions of live entertainment support, and have opportunity for practical experience in these positions.
Requirements: You must be able to lift 50 pounds. Some ladder work required. Some backstage experience preferred, but not required.
