Bear Valley Star Party
July 25th & 26th, 2009
Bear Valley Star Party
Saturday, July 25 & Sunday, July 26
Following the Evening Performances
Dark skies and masses of viewable stars are a breathtaking legend in the lush alpine resort of Bear Valley at 7,500 feet elevation. Bucolic Bear Valley Village and Ski Resort, at the edge of Central Sierra’s Alpine County, is surrounded by U. S. National Forest. The result is very little ambient light and almost ideal stargazing opportunities. Now, everyone can experience this wonderful setting to view the universe during the third annual Bear Valley Star Party, July 25th and 26th.
You are welcome to view the night sky through the special telescopes provided, or just bring a blanket or chairs to casually join in the fun. In either case, this promises to be a special experience. The Star Party is located at the bus storage area in the Mountain Resort parking lot just off Highway 4. It begins after the July 25th and July 26th evening performances and runs until sunrise.
This year’s Bear Valley Star Party event is FREE, including two classes, access to the viewing site and telescope viewing. There will also be a door prize drawing to win Scope City gift certificates, astronomy pictures, charts and books, 10x50 and 12-36x70 Giant Barska Binoculars, Konus Motor 500 telescope and more!
